Specialized Mountain Bikes Takes the Ride a Notch higher

Mountain biking has never been an easy undertaking. The biker has to choose the best bike that can withstand off-road cycling that includes huge and sharp-edged rocks, jumps, logs, steep inclines and steep declines.

Going through mountain elements, which, by its very nature suggests defying the odds, cyclists must arm themselves with a bike which can withstand and emerge victorious. The ride will be long and sometimes hard that is why sturdy frames have become necessities. The head angle being the vital part in mountain bikes need to be specifically strong and durable.

Disc breaks replaced the usual V-breaks in popularity to offer maximum capacity for heavy breaking control. Suspension forks were also added as a feature to make riding on rough road easier and less physically stressful.

Through the years, mountain biking has developed other subtypes that has increased the demand and innovation of mountain bikes to meet the needs of the bikers. Mountain biking now has downhill mountain biking, endurance biking, free ride and cross country biking just to name a few.

A your aviation major student named Mike Sinyard had a great passion for bikes and when he left the aviation school, he then transferred to business school. In 1974, he put up a small company that imported Italian bicycle parts.

Sinyard's innovation paved way for the first mountain bike up and running. Stuntjumper was designed to stand firm against off road, ridged mountain trails. The first massively produced mountain bikes in history, Stuntjumper rests embalmed in Smithsonian Institution.

Specialized continues innovation of their products by giving birth to a number of well known models of mountain bikes. This includes ENduro, Demo, BigHit, Rockhopper, Hardrock, Works, Epic, FSR, and of course the Stumpjumper.

Their company's mission statement was to provide the best ride for everyone which is still true today.

Definitely something to look out for, Specialized mountain bikes have new member which will be introduced in 2010. The focus is on the improvement of the suspension forks with high end brain suspension technology for both Stuntjumpers and Enduro SL. Numerous woman's bike will also be introduced.
