Cool Motion Pictures On Mistaken Identities

By Leonard W Cole

An unreasonable but forever amusing premise for a motion picture is when the characters switch lives with each other or imagine to be someone else, it always ends up being very funny and the message is as a rule about considering the other person's viewpoint.

In 1987, Dudley Moore and Kirk Cameron portrayed father and son who switched places in the film "Like Father, Like Son". The father accidentally sprinkles a magical Indian potion into his bloody Mary and right away he and his son have switched identities. Cast also includes Margaret Colin, Catherine Hicks, Patrick O'Neal and Sean Astin.

Dudley Moore is a heart doctor who is so absorbed in his own life and his own occupation that he neglects to notice his son's tribulations with school and social activities. The identity crisis of course, leads to surprising complications at school and work but also helps both father and son see the perspective of the other.

And one more parallel movie from 2003, "Freaky Friday" involves a mom and her 15-year old daughter. The daughter cannot comprehend why her mother doesn't support her musical dreams and the mom can't appreciate why the daughter is not more supportive to her forthcoming nuptials.

A Chinese restaurant and a supernatural fortune cookie on Thursday night bring about a Friday like no other. But they have to find consideration for the other before the marriage ceremony takes place on Saturday. Stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan with Mark Harmon as the future husband and stepfather.

Finally a recommendation for a dissimilar kind of identity exchange, in "Mrs. Doubtfire" Robin Williams plays a free-spirited husband and dad who unwillingly gets divorced after fourteen years. Nevertheless, he can't bear to be away from his kids so he pretends to be a British housekeeper and his ex-wife hires him as a nanny.

Sally Fields is the ex-wife, with Pierce Brosnan as her new boyfriend. Robin Williams plays the dad and Mrs. Doubtfire with Lisa Jakob, Matthew Lawrence and Mara Wilson as the children. "Mrs. Doubtfire" is a film that one and all can enjoy from the year 1993.

And of course, there may be more but there you have three suggestions for some humorous and remarkable motion pictures based upon the premise of a mistaken identity. Have fun!
