Most of us at some point I will experience low back pain. This is the most common medical conditions in the world. We depend so heavily on our back for our mobility. Small injuries can begin to have a much greater impact on this area of the body. People most affected are those between 30 and 50 years old. The aging process has some effect on diminishing be vitality of this critical area. If you remain vigilant, you can take actions to reduce the chance of injury and maintain be vitality of your lower back.

What is the structure that makes up the lower back? Structure is often referred to as the lumbar. The lumbar are the five lumbar vertebrae which we know commonly as the lower back. These loans are stacked in a column in separated by soft tissues.

Each disc of the lumbar is separated by soft tissue areas. The soft tissue consists of tendons, ligaments and muscles. These provide for the flexibility of the spinal column. Maintaining the flexibility of these soft tissue areas helps with the vitality and longevity of the lumbar.

There are certain chronic conditions which cause degeneration to the soft tissues or the bone of the cervical discs. Conditions such as degenerative disc disease or degenerative arthritis are chronic and may require surgery to rectify.

There are also acute conditions which are characterized by short term pain in the lower back. Certain ones of these conditions are preventable. Many preventable situations are how we lift objects, are sitting position and our posture. We have control over these items and must be careful not to injure our backs.

You may work at a desk for long periods of time. When we sit for long periods of time are weight is placed in certain areas of the body. If our backs are not aligned properly, then this begins to fatigue the muscles and other soft tissues. This causes tension in the body which can result in stiffness or it. Make sure you utilize an ergonomic chair and understand how to make the adjustments to support your back and shoulders.

Many of us have bad habits when it comes to sitting. We may lay back to much or lean forward too much. Think of how your spine must support your body's weight in different positions. Finding the optimal position to relieve stress on the back is important to avoid problems.

When you stand, do you slouch? Many of us slouched by putting our shoulders forward and kind of functioning over. Instead we should put our shoulders back and our head up. Not only will this help our confidence it will tremendously help our backs.

It is amazing to see how many people lift objects with their back. They hunch over the item and put all the stress and strain on their spine. Meanwhile, the largest muscles in your body are not being effectively used. These would be your leg muscles. Instead, then your knees pick up the item and simply stand up.

It is important to lift objects properly by using your legs. It is like doing one big event. Put the object in front of you and bend at the knees until you can hold the object. Next straighten your legs back out while maintaining your back straight and in the upright position. This will put the weight of the object on your legs which are the largest muscles in your body.

One of the easiest methods to use for maintaining the health of the lumbar is with stretching. Stretching exercises can include walking, swimming and massage therapy. These movement therapies are used to improve the muscle balance and their flexibility. Start a routine of back healthy activities to maintain your mobility.

By maintaining the proper health of your spine, you can avoid many potential lower back problems. Of course, as we age we will lose some strength and flexibility. Therefore, it is vital to have a routine of back healthy activities. This will help ensure that you maintain the flexibility and strength to avoid potential injuries and enjoy many more activities.
